The role
The role of Cloud Engineer within the Core Infrastructure team supports the configuration, implementation, and administration of cloud and hybrid cloud solutions at APRA, with a focus on implementing best practises as APRA continues its journey into the cloud. The role also involves making recommendations regarding the development of new and innovative solutions to current IT related issues. In the provision of advice to senior managers on systems issues, the position operates within a framework established by the policies and practices of the IT Unit and is guided by the APRA Act, other relevant legislation, and accepted practice.
The team
Reporting to the Infrastructure Manager within the Technology division, the Cloud Engineer is a member of the Core Infrastructure team. Primary stakeholders are the Head of Central Services and CIO, other product teams within the Technology department in the provision of services, networking, and infrastructure to support applications and deployments delivered on-premises and within the cloud.
Key responsibilities
- Deploy, configure, manage, and monitor solutions deployed within the Azure cloud and hybrid-cloud deployed solutions;
- Administer, perform, and maintain governance activities relating to cloud services and offerings;
- Perform maintenance and patching activities as required;
- Remediate security related issues and vulnerabilities relating to any system components.
- Deploy and manage hardening concepts across a range of technologies both on premise and within the Azure cloud;
- Network segmentation and segregation (implementation both on-premises and within the Azure cloud);
- Secure administration (and the implementation of it);
- Deploy, configure and manage automated deployment solutions for cloud-based infrastructure;
- Delivery of projects and BAU work, both working autonomously and part of a larger group;
- Create, update, and maintain documentation for the cloud and hybrid cloud solutions as they evolve; and
- Afterhours implementation and maintenance activities.
About you
- Proven experience in an Azure DevOps environment, process optimisation, process automation, building pipelines, etc;
- Proven experience with Azure Cloud Services and various services like Azure AD, Compute, Networking, Storage and Databases, Azure Landing Zone, Azure Logic Apps, Azure Functions, Azure Sentinel;
- Proven experience configuring and maintaining Cloud platforms networking infrastructure and the integration back to on-premises platforms;
- Expertise in scripting languages (PowerShell, Bicep);
- Knowledge on GIT in maintaining source code repositories;
- Experience and knowledge of working within the ACSC Essential 8/ISM and PSPF; and
- Azure certifications in administration and design.
