Our client, a well-established national construction company headquartered in the North Ryde/Macquarie Park area, is seeking an experienced Standalone Payroll Officer to take full ownership of their payroll function. This is a permanent part-time role offering genuine flexibility — ideal for professionals seeking reduced hours, family-friendly arrangements, or improved work-life balance.You will be responsible for managing end-to-end payroll for approximately 140 employees across multiple states, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and timeliness. You will work autonomously while being supported by a collaborative and approachable finance team.
Key Responsibilities
- Process weekly and fortnightly payroll end-to-end for 140 employees
- Maintain and update employee records including onboarding, terminations, and leave
- Prepare and upload ABA files for payment processing
- Manage superannuation, payroll tax, PAYG, and award/EBA compliance
- Handle staff queries and liaise with HR, project, and site teams
- Complete monthly journals, reconciliations, and payroll reporting
- Assist with year-end processing, STP, and audit preparation
- Identify and implement payroll system and process improvements
- Proficiency in Micropay OR a complex EBA/award driven environment is advantageous
- Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, EBAs, and Fair Work compliance
- High attention to detail, with strong organisational and communication skills
- Previous experience in construction, engineering, or industrial sectors is desirable
- Part-time role: 25–30 hours per week
