About the role

Mater Hospital Brisbane is seeking an experienced, motivated and enthusiastic Clinical Nurse to join the Stomal Therapy team for a maximum term 5-week coverage contract, full time hours 38 hours per week commencing 21st July 2025.

This clinical role provides and supports the delivery of high-quality patient care, where advanced clinical skills and knowledge underpin care coordination, collaboration and communication within the nursing and interdisciplinary team, for excellence in patient outcomes.

Salary range: $54.45 - $58.30 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

The primary purpose of these positions is to improve and maintain patient outcomes by providing support and education to patients with stomas or wound care needs, liaising and providing nursing support to the VMO’s as well as providing support and education to staff.

As a valued member of the team you will:

  • Support and contribute to the achievement of the continuous quality improvement in the delivery of services to patients
  • Conduct holistic assessment of patients with wounds, assess and develop wound management plan engaging multi-disciplinary team involvement as appropriate
  • Exercise proper courtesy, consideration and sensitivity in dealing with patients, members of the public and other employees
  • Apply Stomal Therapy and/or Wound Management knowledge and clinical skills to provide pre-operative education, siting advice, post op support and education, facilitate product selection and problem solving
  • Work autonomously and as part of the team aligning practice with unit, department and corporate business and strategic goals
  • Assist with the provision of education for staff with support from existing team
  • Collaborate and liaise with multi-disciplinary teams internally and externally to ensure optimal patient outcomes promoting best practice

About you

To be successful in your application you will have:

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (no restrictions)
  • A minimum three years’ acute clinical experience
  • Advanced capability with complex wound management, pressure injuries and stomas. Demonstrated interest in stomas, wound management & recency in professional development activities aligned with specialty
  • Demonstrated ability to work to top of scope with highly developed critical thinking and troubleshooting ability
  • Sound computer skills, especially operating Microsoft programs
  • High-level interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills with the ability to engage with internal stakeholders at various levels to achieve
  • The ability to participate in education and staff development, to optimise patient care outcomes
  • The ability to plan and manage priorities and workloads

Desirable

  • Post Graduate qualification in Stomal Therapy/Wound Care (CN) or extensive wound care experience (RN)
