Job DescriptionOur client is a classified research network capability that underpins the research activities conducted by Hypersonic Flight Experimentation Group (HFE) and Disruptive Hypersonic Technology Group (DHT), based in Brisbane. The network is designed for portability and is deployed to support Defence trials and test events.
About the role/ Experience required:
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Standalone Network Cyber Advisor (SFIA 5) who will be responsible for safeguarding a classified research network, by implementing robust security measures, ensuring compliance with the Australian Signals Directorate's (ASD) Essential Eight Maturity Model, and managing plans of action and milestones. This position requires expertise in cyber risk management, security frameworks, and proactive mitigation strategies.
Key duties and responsibilities
- Plan, document and lead the implementation of a Plan of Actions and Milestone (POAM) activities in response to certification assessment and reduce risk for the ICT networks.
- Establish working relationships and an understood roles and responsibilities network diagram that shows how the standalone network team works within the broader roles and responsibilities structure.
- Implementing directions from the IT Security Manager (ITSM), Group Information Security Officer, or the designated System Owner.
- Notifying the System Manager of:
- Any identified risk that may prejudice the security of the system;
- Any ISM control deficiencies beyond those explicitly authorised; and
- Any security incidents detected or identified in accordance with the Information Environment Security Standard Operating Procedures (IE SSOP), IRP, or System Specific SOPs.
- Performing security management tasks in accordance with applicable System Specific SOPs (including incident response activities), under direction from the ITSM, GISO or System Owner;
- Monitors the application and compliance of security operations procedures;
- Ensuring event log management services (as outlined by the GISO) is deployed and sustained;
- Facilitate vulnerability assessments scans and take actions to remediate identified vulnerabilities, including any associated patching;
The successful candidate has experience with:
- Professional certifications (e.g. Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)).

Location: This role is based in CBD Brisbane.
Contract terms: 13 month contract +12 month extension
Security Requirements: Candidates require Australian citizenship along with an active NV1 or higher security clearance . Candidates will need to be willing to undergo pre-employment checks which may include, ID and work rights, security clearance verification, and any other client requested checks.
