About The Role
The purpose of this position is to provide on-going operations and planned maintenance works on the bulk water assets and to lead the repair effort for bulk water mains breaks. This includes:
Conduct bulk water maintenance, operations and capital work including resourcing of materials and plant. Direct repair work on water mains breaks including staff assigned from other units. Assist in the formulation of the planned maintenance program for the assets and carry out those works with minimal supervision. Develop a detailed knowledge of the bulk water system to assist in emergency action and to assist in correcting asset and GIS information.
This role is required to participate in the on-call roster and overtime arrangements as required, to resolve out of hours operational issues or emergency works including disaster management.
About You
Our ideal candidate will have:
Mandatory
Ability to read and write and to perform basic numerical calculations commensurate with the duties. General knowledge of bulk water operations and procedures. Good knowledge of pipe materials and valve operations, including plan interpretation. Demonstrated experience in the operation of large diameter water pipes, valves and fittings. Current “C” class driver’s licence with ability to obtain an "MR" class driver's licence. Construction Industry White Card (30215 QLD). Ability to work long hours in arduous conditions.
Desirable
Good knowledge of confined space procedures. Customer Service Skills commensurate with this classification level. Problem solving abilities and skills commensurate with this classification level. Ability to read plans and to utilise a GIS to locate and identify assets. Ability to safely drive long distances and cross country. First Aid Certificate. Confined Space Certificate.
