POSITION PURPOSEReporting to Environmental Manager, the Environmental Officer assist with providing environmental advisory support to GMA’s Narngulu and Port Gregory sites. Residential or relocation only - NO FIFO for this role. GMA will be prioritising applicants who have a current right to work in Australia, and do not require GMA sponsorship of a visa.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Assist with maintaining Site compliance with relevant environmental licences and approval documentation, including conducting internal environmental audits and inspections.Assist with report and approval documentation development (such as clearing permits, works approval, licence amendment etc).Ability to work independently and undertake environmental monitoring (including groundwater monitoring, dust monitoring etc.)Contribute to interpreting environmental monitoring data, identify adverse trends, and report to the Environmental Specialist.Contribute to the maintenance and development of GMA’s environmental management systems.Development and review of internal environmental procedures and roll out.Provide input into investigations relating to environmental incidents.Assist with contractor management.Provide input into budget preparation.Assist with the maintenance of the spatial database.
SKILLS AND SELECTION CRITERIA | RELEVANT QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
A tertiary qualification in Environmental Science or equivalent.1 -2 years’ experience in the environmental field.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Competency in word and excel.Competency in GIS (Desirable))Experience in environmental monitoring.Sound knowledge of environmental legislation.Sound written and verbal communication skills.A commitment to learn and expand your knowledge of the mining industry.An ability to build strong working relationships with people from a wide range of backgrounds and work collaboratively to deliver great outcomes.
