The Program
The Meet ‘n’ Greet Front Reception Area at the Bundaberg Base Hospital assists patients (and their visitors) by directing or escorting them to their destination within the hospital and provides information to family members and visitors needing to find the whereabouts of patients.
This position suits someone over the age of 18 years.
The Opportunity Be part of the friendly and welcoming team at the Bundaberg Base Hospital. We look for good listeners with great communication skills to provide support and information to hospital patients and their visitors about the services and facilities within the hospital.
Duties Include
Work within the guidelines of the Hospital policies and procedures, including the wearing of a face mask while on shift To communicate respectfully with all individuals including patients, customers and staff Provide information to visitors about the hospital services and facilities Escort patient and visitors to various wards and department, as required Respond to general enquires about local amenities, including hospital cafeterias, rest rooms, local coffee shops, taxis, public transport and parking Reassure people if they appear distressed or confused Maintain the Meet and Greet front reception day books Follow direction of the Hospital Volunteer Services Coordinator
Red Cross will ensure you have training, ongoing support and access to other opportunities within the world’s largest humanitarian network.
The Impact
As a volunteer, you will provide support for recipients of the service to find their way around the hospital. You will have the opportunity to learn from many people’s diverse history and knowledge, as well as feeling the satisfaction of giving back to others.
Application Requirements
For this role you will be required to undertake a National Police Check, organised through Red Cross.
Please note - if you are successful in the role you will need to undertake further onboarding checks and induction with the Bundaberg Base Hospital - including a Working with Children Check (blue card) mandatory training (health service induction, fire safety, infection control and code of conduct) and immunisation. The hospital will cover all costs.
