About the Role Our client, a well-established manufacturer of heavy haulage trailers, is entering an exciting phase of growth and transformation. They are seeking skilled Boilermakers to join their team in Wacol.
This role is ideal for someone with strong plate fabrication experience, particularly in working with heavy steel plate components used in chassis, drawbars, and structural frames. Familiarity with pulse MIG welding techniques is also highly desirable, as it provides strong, clean welds with reduced heat distortion — perfect for thick steel sections or aluminum components commonly used in trailer manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate and assemble trailers in line with detailed engineering drawings
- Cut, roll, bend, punch, and drill heavy plate steel
- Apply MIG and/or pulse MIG welding techniques for high-quality, durable welds
- Maintain precision and accuracy throughout all fabrication stages
- Conduct inspections and quality checks
- Uphold strict safety procedures in the workshop
- Boilermaker Trade Qualification (or equivalent)
- Experience in heavy manufacturing or trailer fabrication
- Strong plate fabrication skills – cutting, welding, and assembling heavy steel
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical/engineering drawings
- Familiarity with mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics
- Safe and efficient use of power tools and welding equipment
- $52/hour casual rate + penalties
- Flexible 4-day work week with regular overtime opportunities
