The aerodrome reporting officer/grounds person will contribute to the safe operation of Tennant Creek Airport by inspecting and reporting the airport's operational condition, plus assist in the day-to-day maintenance of airport grounds and infrastructure. They will ensure the relevant safety, security and environmental regulations, company policies and procedures are strictly adhered too.

This position is a SSAA (Safety Sensitive Aviation Activity).

Responsibilities:

  • Understand and implement operational, security and environmental procedures and requirements for airside and terminal operations in accordance with company and regulatory requirements to ensure that aviation, safety and environmental risks are managed in line with company objectives.
  • Carry out Aerodrome Reporting Officer or Works Safety Officer functions as required, including response to any Aerodrome and Terminal emergencies.
  • Monitor, report and follow up on airport activities including aerodrome serviceability, breaches of regulations, standards and ADG procedures.
  • Assist with maintaining the airport airside and landside grounds and facilities, including but not limited to, mowing, painting, pavement maintenance, and general minor maintenance and civil works.
  • Assist with monitoring and maintaining airport facilities to ensure CASA compliance.
  • Maintain effective communications with clients, tenants, contractors and agencies.
  • Identify, assess, and manage risk through application of ADG Risk Management Framework.
  • Promote sustainable and safety conscious culture by ensuring environmental and safety risks are identified, assessed, and treated.

Essential:

  • Experience in, or ability to learn, aerodrome serviceability inspections and wildlife hazard management
  • Experience in, or ability to learn, airport maintenance tasks, including operating minor plant and equipment
  • Ability to work independently and manage day to day the safety and security aspects of airport operations.
  • Good oral and written communication skills and a medium level of computer literacy.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in high pressure situations including responding to airport and terminal emergencies.
  • Ability to hold an NT employee firearm licence.
  • Current NT driver’s license (or ability to obtain a full NT driver’s license).
  • Current CASA Radio Operator’s Certificate of Proficiency or equivalent.
  • Eligibility to hold an Aviation Security Identification Card.
  • Be subject to the ADG Drug and Alcohol Management Plan and testing regime.
  • Commitment to the value of teamwork but confident to work solo when required.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in and around airports.
  • Thorough understanding of airport operations, safety procedures and regulatory principles and objectives.
  • Certificate III in Airport Airside Operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to use various landscape and minor civil works machinery i.e. Commercial Ride-on Mowers, Whipper snipper, Tractor/slasher, Backhoe, Bobcat, painting machines and various power tools
  • Knowledge of the general requirements of the NT Work Health and Safety (National Uniform Legislation) Act and Regulations.
  • Current NT Class MR licence
  • Current NT Plant Operators licence for skid steer loader and backhoe.
