Description:

The Manager, Office of the Senior Executive Director provides executive support and advice to the Senior Executive Director on strategic, operational and corporate governance issues within and across Youth Detention Operations and Reform.

The Manager will lead a business support team to ensure critical governance and compliance requirements are implemented and met.

As Manager, Office of the Senior Executive Director, you will specifically:

  • Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Provide timely and accurate strategic and operational information, advice and analysis to the Executive Director and the senior leadership team on asset management, financial, human resource, IT, information management another administrative and business issues.
  • Develop and maintain strong professional networks with other areas of the department, in particular Business Services within the Office of the Senior Executive Director to ensure effective integration, coordination and liaison occurs.
  • Lead the management of cost centres within Youth Detention Operations and Reform and provide advice and assistance to administrative staff to ensure accurate an accountable systems are maintained.
  • Coordinate and research the provision of authoritative, professional and timely advice to the Senior Executive Director on key issues pertaining to planning and performance management, information management, ministerial and executive support, and program and project management, including the analyses of findings and the recommendation of appropriate courses of action.
  • Manage and monitor projects as directed by the Senior Executive Director, particularly in relation to business and service improvement initiatives, and report to the Senior Executive Director on their progress and outcomes.
  • Actively participate in and contribute to the good governance and objectives of the Office of the Senior Executive Director.
  • Lead and supervise a team to achieve operational and strategic objectives for the branch, directorate and the department.
  • Manage the preparation of all briefing material for consideration by the Minister and the Director-General, as well as the flow of information between the department, other departments (e.g. interagency consultation on whole of government activities, or significant policy initiatives with cross agency implications) and the Minister.
  • Prepare and coordinate submissions, briefs, correspondence, reports and operational planning as required.
