Robert Half is currently recruiting an experienced Accountant for a Not-for-Profit organisation in the early childhood sector.

Staffed by trained educators, their aim is to create a nurturing environment that supports the individual's growth and prepares them for future learning. They often collaborate with families and local communities to ensure culturally responsive and inclusive practices.

They are seeking to appoint a passionate and professional Accountant to undertake a broad range of duties within the Finance team. This is a critical support role primarily responsible for a variety of financial tasks crucial to the success of the business including delivering timely and accurate financial reports, reconciliations, journals, profit and loss review, budgeting and forecasting

This is a temporary to permanent role as they need someone immediately to support during a busy start to the year. If you are immediately available, have long-term working rights and are ready to join a motivated and supportive finance team with a fantastic culture… then this role is for you!


The Role

You will work closely with the Finance Manager and CFO and carry out the responsibilities of the accountant.

Some typical duties will involve:
- Support month-end and year-end close processes.
- Support annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
- Completing balance sheet reconciliations.
- Collating audit samples and producing supporting documents.
- Ensuring compliance with accounting principles and standards.
- Ensure compliance with tax laws (including GST) and internal policies.
- Managing tight deadlines independently with exceptional attention to detail.
- Post journal entries (accruals, prepayments, adjustments).

Your Profile

To be successful you will have proven experience in a high-volume accounting environment with a minimum of 3 years' experience in Accounts. The following attributes will also be highly advantageous:

- Tertiary qualifications in Accountancy and Finance
- Strong Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint & Word skills
- Excellent communication skills - Approachable and helpful manner (essential)
- The ability to draft accurate and concise financial reports
- Self motivated and the ability to manage workload and deadlines
