We are excited to announce the launch of a brand-new, state-of-the-art hatchery facility in Somersby — and we’re looking for motivated and capable individuals to help lead this journey from the ground up. We are currently seeking experienced Team Leaders to join our growing hatchery team. Multiple roles are available across key operational areas, each requiring dedicated leadership:

  1. Receival of eggs

  2. Setting of eggs

  3. Transfer of eggs

  4. Take-off of hatched chicks

  5. Processing and grading of hatched chicks

  6. Allocating delivery of hatched chicks

Each area will be led by a Team Leader, who will report directly to the Assistant Hatchery Manager.

Successful candidates will complete a comprehensive three-month training program at our established Greystanes site before transitioning permanently to Somersby as part of the founding operations team.

Reporting to the Assistant Hatchery Manager, Team Leader will be responsible for overseeing daily hatchery operations, managing their designated section, and supporting continuous improvement across all processes .

Key Responsibilities:

Supervise daily operations within the assigned section (Receival, Setting, Transfer, Take-Off, Processing, or Delivery Allocation).
• Provide hands-on supervision and leadership to team members, including rostering, training, and performance management.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with animal welfare standards, quality assurance protocols, and hygiene regulations.
• Identify and report equipment or facility maintenance needs, collaborating with relevant teams to ensure timely repairs.
• Uphold all company policies and foster a culture of safety, integrity, and continuous improvement.
• Promptly report any hazards or safety issues.
• Conduct toolbox talks, perform workplace inspections, and support onboarding of new team members.

Required Skills & Experience:

Experience in hatchery or poultry operations is highly regarded but not mandatory.
• Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop teams in a fast-paced, operational environment.
• Strong planning, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency in basic computer applications, with the ability to manage reports, rosters, and documentation effectively.
