About us
McKinlay Shire Council is seeking a responsible, creative, and enthusiastic Early Childhood Teacher (ECT) at the Julia Creek Early Learning Centre. Julia Creek ELC is a 21 place service catering for children aged 12 months to 5 years in the beautiful outback town of Julia Creek.
With many extra-curricular activities available for residents including a 24 hour gym, sports centre, water park, school, library, camp drafts, rodeos and the iconic Dirt n Dust Festival, this is the perfect place for families or for someone looking to make a meaningful impact in education by assisting the passionate and small team of educators here to bring quality education to the bush.

The Role:
The ECT will assist the Director to oversee (in their absence) ELC staff and lead the design and implementation of both a Kindergarten program and long day care program in accordance with the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines and Early Years Learning Framework.
What you'll be doing
The successful applicant will be able to plan for the individual needs of the children within their room, implementing the planning cycle, collaborating with families to develop an enriched learning environment for the children in their room. The successful applicant will take on the day-to-day responsibilities of the Director, when they are absent.
What we're looking for
-
Minimum Four Year Degree Early Childhood, or Four Year Degree in Primary Education and at least one
of the following – Diploma of Children’s Services or Advanced Diploma of Child Care from a Registered 'Training Organisation; -
Current Queensland Teacher Registration; (desired, not required);

Current Working with Children Blue Card;

Current Senior First Aid Certificate (including Anaphylaxis and Asthma training);

Experience working with all ages of children who have not yet commenced school;

Ability to promote and work within a team environment;
-
An understanding of all Childcare Legislation, Early Years Learning Framework, and National Quality
Framework, Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline and Workplace Health and Safety procedures
is highly desirable.
