Risk Management is responsible for developing and deploying the risk frameworks to allow the Group to take conscious exposures to credit, market, operational, compliance and insurance risks within a Board-approved appetite.

The Risk Data Insights and Analytics team forms part of the Group Risk Management function. And uses data and analytics to transform Risk Management through automation, self-service tools and data science. RDIA focuses on innovation with a proven track record of regularly incrementally added new features and capabilities to already CBA best-in-class capabilities.

Do work that matters

The Risk Data Insights and Analytics (RDIA) crew, within Risk, supports the group via a variety of self-service reporting and dashboards to over 6500 CBA users and we also provide regular reporting to external regulators, CBA market disclosures published on the ASX, regular reporting to the Board and senior management. RDIA also develops and operates internal web applications which are key Business Banking and Institutional Banking & Market’s credit origination.

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will play a key role in driving the technical direction of our projects, with a primary focus on system architecture and design, implementation of best practices and reusable patterns, and endorse new designs and patterns for wider usage.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop scalable solutions using wide tech stack. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software engineering, exceptional problem-solving skills, and a passion for building robust systems.

We’re interested in hearing from people who have

  • Proven experience in solution design and architecture.

  • Have a passion for designing, developing and deploying high quality software solutions and System Design.

  • Are familiar with the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) with a focus on excellent UXs, CI/CD, automated testing, infrastructure cloud pipelines, logging and monitoring.

  • Have ability to think outside the box and break boundaries to solve complex problems.

  • Have a natural drive to educate, communicate and positively influence various stakeholder groups as well as coaching & mentoring junior engineers.

  • Can perform code quality control through peer programming, code review and automated pipeline release management.

Tech skills

This is a highly technical role, requiring a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. You’ll be a good match if you have previous experience in:

  • Expertise with API specification, design, registration and tooling

  • Language orientation: Experience on C#, .NET Framework Core, essential. SOAP/REST APIs, Microservices and containerisation

  • Soft skills: Excellent communication skills. Working experience with Agile methodologies.

  • Cloud: Experience on cloud migrations and deployment

  • CI/CD: expertise with usage and configuration of fully automated pipelines is useful. This includes GitHub Actions, Artifactory and Azure DevOps.

  • DevOps: Familiarity with DevOps-managed environments. Specifically, around observability tools (Splunk, Grafana, Promethius, PagerDuty)

  • Test Automation: Unit/Integration/Acceptance/Performance testing experience in API.

  • Security: Defence in depth, including identity management, encryption and public cloud security obligations

  • Databases: Relational databases (e.g. Postgres / Oracle), as well as data warehousing and No-SQL databases (MongoDB).

  • Familiarity in event-driven architectures (Kafka, MQ) and orchestration (Apache Camel, Temporal, Mulesoft)
