Position InformationThe assistant principal visual impairment (itinerant) is based at Inverell High School and is responsible for an administrative/teaching caseload within schools. The Assistant Principal Vision (APV) has a caseload of students that can involve working with preschool children to Year 12 students that have a diagnosed vision impairment and meet vision caseload criteria. This position requires the ability and willingness to travel between work sites.
Selection Criteria In addition to the general selection criteria,- Approval to teach students with Vision Impairment (Itinerant) and evidence of successful teaching experience with students who are blind or with vision impairment.
- Capacity to collaborate with and mentor colleagues to innovate and coordinate complex systems and procedures related to leadership of the vision team.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and monitor Personalised Learning and Support Plans that address the expanded core curriculum needs of students who are blind or students with vision impairment.
- Demonstrated expertise in the provision of and instruction in the use of alternative media formats and current technologies to support students who are blind or with vision impairment.
- Capacity to lead professional leaning for teachers across various settings and mentor teaching staff to embed differentiated learning to meet the individual needs of all students.
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
