The Role
We are recruiting for a highly motivated and enthusiastic law student, eager to gain experience in a commercial law firm.
Working in this dynamic role, you will collaborate closely with our team of Practice Support Lawyers to provide critical support to the firm’s Real Estate Group. You will be instrumental in ensuring that the documentation, processes and practices of the Real Estate Group consistently adhere to compliance requirements and deliver efficiencies.
In addition, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development and implementation of legal project management initiatives, as well as business and legal process improvements and innovation programs.
This position is a casual role, offering two days of work per week.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with drafting documents, precedents and templates to be used for the firm’s Real Estate Group including Contracts of Sale, Special Conditions, Lease Agreements and Seller Disclosure Statements;
- Updating and testing existing documents, precedents and templates to ensure accuracy and compliance with recent changes to the Property Law Act;
- Assisting with identifying, designing and implementing process improvement and workflow solutions;
- Liaising with specialist lawyers in the team where necessary to obtain their input; and
- Analysing and assessing legal changes affecting precedents or practice.
Experience
As the successful candidate, you will be a committed law student, either in your second or third year of study. You will a demonstrate a keen interest in automation, technology, process improvement and efficiency, with a desire to develop your skills in this space. Completing an additional degree in one of these areas will place you in high regard.
Additionally, you will bring a sharp problem-solving mindset, exceptional attention to detail and strong proofreading skills.
Furthermore, you will excel in building and nurturing strong working relationships, both within your immediate team and the wider legal teams you will support.
