Principal Building SurveyorKyogle Council is on the lookout for an experienced and passionate Principal Building Surveyor to head up our building services team and make a lasting impact across our beautiful local government area.
As Principal Building Surveyor, you’ll be the key driver behind the delivery of professional, efficient and compliant building surveying and certification services across the region. Your leadership will support local growth and ensure quality standards are upheld in all areas of construction and development.
Your day-to-day will include:
Assessing and issuing building-related certificates (CDC, CC, OC, BIC)
Conducting critical stage inspections and ensuring compliance with development approvals
Leading investigations into unauthorised works and guiding enforcement action
Providing expert technical advice to Council, stakeholders, and the community
Supervising and mentoring a team of dedicated certifiers
Driving continuous improvement and best practice in building services

To be eligible for this role, you will have:
Accreditation (or eligibility) under the Building and Development Certifiers Act 2018A current Class C driver’s licence
Grade 8: Building Surveyor – Restricted (Class 1 & 10)
Grade 9: Building Surveyor – Restricted (All classes)
A solid understanding of NSW planning and building legislation
Strong communication and customer service skills
Experience supervising or mentoring staff (for Grade 9 roles)
