Description:
The Role:
- Coordinate the provision of clinical activities in the specialist areas of Oncology and Haematology, at the Launceston General Hospital (LGH), including undertaking training, professional supervision, and support regarding other pharmacy staff.
- Provide and coordinate comprehensive pharmaceutical care as part of a multidisciplinary team in the specialist areas of Oncology and Haematology, including dispensing and patient counselling and the provision of professional advice and consultancy services to other health professionals.
- Educate pharmacy staff, including undergraduate and postgraduate students, in the theory and practice of clinical pharmacy services.
- Supervise, train, and provide leadership and guidance to other pharmacists and associated support staff in the specialist areas of Oncology and Haematology.
- Take an active role in the maintenance and provision of drug information and drug utilisation evaluation within the specialist area and in education programs for other health professionals, including undergraduates.
- Keep abreast of emerging trends in drug therapy in the specialist areas by self-education and participation in national networks, including participating in research and clinical drug trials in the field of Oncology and Haematology.

The Team:
The LGH is Tasmania's second largest hospital and the major referral centre for Northern Tasmania, operating within its designated role in the Tasmanian Role Delineation Framework, as a level 5 hospital. Providing inpatient and ambulatory services to Launceston and surrounding areas it is the largest employer in the region with around 4000 staff. The LGH has 349 beds (excluding mental health inpatient beds).
The successful applicant will join the existing highly skilled team of pharmacists and technicians in the cancer and compounding pharmacy team. This new role will be involved in all aspects of pharmaceutical care including clinically verifying chemotherapy orders, supply and compounding anti-cancer treatments and supportive care to haematology and medical oncology inpatients of the Launceston General Hospital.
Details of appointment:
Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary:
$110,425 to $126,703 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022.
Allowances:
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
- Please note that access to salaries beyond $119,290 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum
- A market allowance of $10,000 per annum pro rata is approved until 17 May 2026, this allowance will be reviewed prior to expiry

Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.
- Registered with the Pharmacy Board of Australia
For pre-registration (intern) pharmacists: Eligible for provisional registration with the Pharmacy Board of Australia. - Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Pharmacy Board of Australia or completion of an overseas qualification eligible for skills assessment through the Australian Pharmacy Council
