The Role
Join Tassal’s Rookwood Hatchery as a Salmon Hatchery Egg Picker in a casual, seasonal role starting at the end of May. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring the health and quality of our salmon eggs and alevins through meticulous care and precision. This hands-on position is ideal for someone who thrives in independent, detail-focused work and enjoys contributing to sustainable aquaculture.
Responsibilities
Identify and remove egg and alevin mortalities to maintain hatchery health.Disinfect and handle eggs during receival and processing.Conduct water quality testing to ensure optimal conditions.Accurately record data and maintain daily logs.Work independently while adhering to strict quality and safety protocols.
Role Requirements
High attention to detail and patience for repetitive, methodical tasks.Self-motivated with the ability to work unsupervised.Reliable transport: Valid driver’s licence and own vehicle.Physical ability to perform tasks in a cold and wet environment.Basic computer skills for data entry.Australian working rights.
