Responsibilities
Your responsibilities in the role will be:
• Oversee and coordinate daily production activities to ensure timely delivery of customer orders.
• Operate and supervise CNC equipment (routers, lathes, milling machines) for the machining of engineering thermoplastics.
• Estimating and Quoting new parts.
• Build up job and project costs based on material usage, machine time, labour, and tooling requirements.
• Establish and document efficient production processes and machining parameters.
• Implement and manage quality assurance checks to meet both internal standards and customer requirements.
• Lead, train, and mentor a team of machine operators and production staff.
• Collaborate with sales, engineering, and supply chain teams to ensure production feasibility and scheduling.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives in workflow, productivity, and machine utilisation.
• Maintain a safe, organised, and compliant workshop environment.
Your Profile
To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring:
• At least 5 years of experience in a production or operations leadership position within a fabrication, machining, or manufacturing environment.
• Trade or technical qualifications in machining, manufacturing, or mechanical engineering (highly regarded).
• Excellent leadership with a team-first approach, prioritising effective communication and strong working relationships.
• Strong proficiency in operating CNC machinery, including routers, lathes, and milling machines.
• Familiarity with engineering plastics (advantageous).
• Solid experience in job costing, production planning, and working with ERP systems; experience with Microsoft ERP platforms is preferred but not essential.
• Experience with CAD drawings and software.
• Demonstrated ability to implement and manage quality assurance processes and maintain accurate documentation.
• A working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles (an advantage).
• Demonstrate a proactive attitude with a keen focus on accountability, integrity, and transparency in all tasks.
