Nepean Hospital is a teaching hospital that provides tertiary referral services in emergency care, coronary care, diagnostics, gynaecology, paediatric, neonatal intensive care/ICU, maternity, mental health, rehabilitation, and surgery. An exciting opportunity has become available for a Dietitian Assistant to join the Nepean Dietetics team. The successful candidate will provide optimal nutritional care (with the guidance of a Clinical Dietitian) to all patients in wards assigned to them and act as a liaison between the Dietetics Department, nursing and food service personnel. As a Dietitian Assistant, you will be responsible for obtaining daily patient menu selections, entering menu selections into computer system, meal tray-line supervision, malnutrition screening and documentation, and ensuring meal and mid-meal accuracy.

What You Will Bring To The Role

  • Dietary Practices Certificate or Certificate III in Health Service Assistance (Nutrition & Dietetics) or equivalent, or willingness to obtain
  • Knowledge and understanding of NSW-wide therapeutic diets, with experience using them in a hospital setting an advantage
  • Proven ability to provide consistently good levels of customer service to hospital patients
  • Demonstrated evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills, including experience within multi-disciplinary teams
  • Demonstrated ability to work both as part of a team and independently, while managing a high paced and high volume workload
  • High level computer skills in a wide variety of applications/programs, including experience with Diet Office/Food service IT systems
  • Skills, knowledge and experience in food safety
  • Current NSW driver’s licence, or equivalent
