About the role

Permanent full time opportunity to be responsible for leading a large team of health information managers responsible for health information management practice within the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital (RBWH) which includes the engagement of clinical teams in activity based funding and the monitoring of revenue targets for both the clinical service lines and the hospital as a whole.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Continuously monitor hospital activity against health service defined targets for a financial year and look for trends in inpatient data to identify financial risk for the RBWH year on year;
  • Lead and manage a team of 10FTE health information management professionals (HIMs) including new HIM graduates and student HIMs;
  • Lead the clinical liaison and engagement programs for the RBWH, providing expert advice to clinical teams as it relates to the health information management domains of activity based funding, quality clinical documentation, privacy, data governance, health informatics and reporting of information for clinical monitoring;
  • Plan for upcoming changes to the national funding model and predict/model the impact on RBWH activity and provide advice on how the International Classification of Diseases (ICD) is applied to patient episodes of care and used for a wide variety of purposes within hospitals.
