We currently have an exciting opportunity for Paediatric Critical Care Registrar, where you will be responsible for:
Managing emergency presentations and Extended Care Unit inpatients, including coordinating investigations, supervising junior medical officers, liaising with patients, families, and statutory authorities, and overseeing patient dischargeParticipating in departmental teaching, continuing education programs, and quality improvement activities under the supervision of senior cliniciansContributing to departmental research and audit projectsParticipating in after-hours on-call rosters where applicable which is supported by the Consultants

Providing high-quality, patient-centred care to critically ill or injured neonates and children during inter-facility transportResponding via road vehicle, fixed-wing aircraft, helicopter, or commercial airline as part of paediatric/neonatal retrieval operationsWorking in partnership with experienced retrieval nurses to deliver critical care during retrievalsReceiving comprehensive support and mentoring prior to and during retrieval duties, including access to ongoing training, teaching, audit, and quality assurance activities.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (BMBS) or equivalent,Registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with General RegistrationAbility to work as an effective team member in a multi-disciplinary environmentAbility to communicate effectively with clients and colleaguesAbility to work under stressful conditions and/or high workloadsProblem solving and decision-making skills (both clinical and individual)
MedSTAR
Applicants must have at least 6 months Neonatal/Paediatric critical care experience. This must include significant time spent in a level 6 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and may include time spent in a Tertiary Level Paediatric Intensive Care Unit.Documented clinical competency in the initial management of critically ill and injured children and neonatesAdvanced airway managementCentral venous, umbilical and arterial invasive vascular accessTube thoracostomySelection and management of infused inotropic and vasoactive agents
