Description:
Snowy Valleys Council is calling for enthusiastic people to apply for casual volunteer roles at the Tumbarumba Visitor Information Centre (VIC), to help share regional knowledge and promote local businesses and events to visitors.
Become a tourism volunteer and share your local knowledge and skills to help promote Tumbarumba to holiday makers and travellers.
Volunteer duties include greeting visitors, answering questions, and providing assistance with maps, activities, and suggested routes. Ideal applicants will have basic computer skills and availability on weekends and public holidays.
Local knowledge of Tumbarumba and the surrounding area is preferred but not essential. A welcoming and friendly attitude is the most valuable quality, with training and support provided to help volunteers grow into the role.
Volunteers are rewarded for their valued contribution with familiarisation tours, team building, friendship, knowledge of the area, and meeting new residents and visitors from around NSW, Australia and overseas.
Shift days can be varied, weekends included. Volunteers can nominate their preferred days and shifts.
The Tumbarumba VIC is located in the heart of town, offering details on accommodation, attractions, events, road conditions, and weather.
Visitors can browse a selection of topographic maps, locally made products, and regional books, with a focus on showcasing the best local produce.
The centre is also home to a captivating historical museum, featuring detailed displays on Tumbarumba’s rich heritage in gold mining, timber, and mountain cattlemen culture. A Driver Reviver station is also available for travellers needing a break.
