Azure storage already runs at Exascale (storing Exabytes of data) and we will scale our designs over the next decade to support Zettascale (storing Zettabytes of data). Azure Storage provides the persistent storage layer in the cloud, powering millions of Azure virtual machines, holding millions of hours of video, billions of photos, and petabytes of other data types. We are looking for talented Software Engineers with a strong and proven record of top-notch design and code development skills. As a Software Engineer in Azure Storage , you will play a key role in defining the technical direction of the next generation of architecture of Azure Storage, while delivering continued improvements as well as pathbreaking features at a high quality. You will work on the latest server technologies and highly distributed systems, with a focus on reliability, scalability, performance, consistency and debuggability.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 1+ year(s) technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

• Hardware background is a plus

• Collaborates with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a set of scenarios.

• Work on identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product, application, service, or platform.

• Creates, implements, optimizes, debugs, refactors, and reuses code to establish and improve performance and maintainability, effectiveness, and return on investment (ROI).

• Leverages subject-matter expertise of cross-product features with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project managers) to drive a workgroup's project plans, release plans, and work items.
