About the Opportunity
We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the WCHN Team as an Advanced Trainee Paediatric Medical Education where you will be responsible for:
- Facilitating medical student teaching within the Paediatric Mental Health Training Unit (PMHTU) using iLab simulation methodology
- Focusing teaching on advanced assessment and interview skills related to the social and emotional wellbeing of children and families
- Collaborating with faculty staff to update and enhance simulation scenarios and eLearning content
- Planning, preparing, and training staff to deliver a new paediatric health simulation during the second half of the 12-month placement
- Delivering teaching content to both rurally placed and metropolitan medical students
- Promoting therapeutic approaches to clinical conversations to support paediatric patients’ social and emotional wellbeing
- Supporting medical students to develop skills in engaging children and families with therapeutic intent
- Contributing to the development and delivery of high-fidelity medical simulation education
- Participating actively in the academic activities of the medical education faculty
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery – or equivalent
- Registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with General Registration
- Completed RACP Basic Training requirements and progressed to Advanced Training
- Ability to work as an effective team member
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and medical students
- Clinical skills appropriate for the duties performed
- Willingness to incorporate suggestions/feedback/complaints into personal improvement
