About the Opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the WCHN Team as an Advanced Trainee Paediatric Medical Education where you will be responsible for:

  • Facilitating medical student teaching within the Paediatric Mental Health Training Unit (PMHTU) using iLab simulation methodology
  • Focusing teaching on advanced assessment and interview skills related to the social and emotional wellbeing of children and families
  • Collaborating with faculty staff to update and enhance simulation scenarios and eLearning content
  • Planning, preparing, and training staff to deliver a new paediatric health simulation during the second half of the 12-month placement
  • Delivering teaching content to both rurally placed and metropolitan medical students
  • Promoting therapeutic approaches to clinical conversations to support paediatric patients’ social and emotional wellbeing
  • Supporting medical students to develop skills in engaging children and families with therapeutic intent
  • Contributing to the development and delivery of high-fidelity medical simulation education
  • Participating actively in the academic activities of the medical education faculty

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery – or equivalent
  • Registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with General Registration
  • Completed RACP Basic Training requirements and progressed to Advanced Training
  • Ability to work as an effective team member
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and medical students
  • Clinical skills appropriate for the duties performed
  • Willingness to incorporate suggestions/feedback/complaints into personal improvement
