An exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Engineer to join our telecommunications sector in Darwin. The role delivers Defence projects which require you to work closely with the client and support the construction team in efficiently delivering all construction works in a timely manner to ensure optimal profitability for projects which encompass structural, civil, electrical, and mechanical aspects with a strong focus on quality.

About the Role The role is responsible to deliver commercially successful projects managing scope, program, cost and commercial with a strong focus on quality while fostering professional relationships and providing a strong safety, health and environmental conscious workplace. Duties include but not limited to –

  • Proactively forecast and plan detailed construction works in accordance with the Program of Work
  • Review scope of work ensuring the team is aware of contractual obligations and timelines, driving the construction program to meet the agreed schedule for the region
  • Determine construction methodology, processes, plant and equipment needs, sequencing of trades, safety and compliance etc.
  • Contribute to the development of the project quality including technical aspects, risks and contingency plans
  • Stakeholder engagement and liaison (internal and external)
  • Subcontractor management including variations
  • Regular relevant project reporting (especially related to quality, NCR, defects etc.)
  • Identify cost minimisation strategies and implement measures to reduce labour, plant and equipment, materials and transportation costs
  • Seek opportunities and drive continuous improvements


Required Skills and Experience

You must have experience in a similar position and be able to demonstrate sound technical abilities and be a strong confident communicator who is comfortable presenting to stakeholders.

  • Tertiary qualification in construction / engineering / quality surveying
  • Diploma in Project Management (preferred)
  • Telecommunications experience (preferred)
  • Understanding of project controls and principles in a construction environment
  • Strategic thinker who anticipates issues and addresses these before they become major problems
  • Solid skills in the Microsoft suite, CAD and SAP
  • Innovation and ability to identify opportunities
  • Current drivers licence and construction white card
  • Must be able to work flexible hours to meet demands and travel inter/intra state when required

Must be an AUSTRALIAN CITIZEN and be able to attain a DEFENCE SECURITY CLEARANCE
