Who we are after ?:

OOCL are looking for an experienced Shipping or Logistics Salesperson, or a Sales Support Executive ready to take their next career step, or a proactive energetic Shipping Line Customer Service person that wants to move into Sales. Could this be you ?

Where are we ?:

OOCL has just moved into a brand new office on the in the 17th Floor of the Rialto Towers, Collins Street, in the heart of the Melbourne CBD, with cafes, bars, and shopping at our doorstep. You will be required to come to the office just one day per week, with car parking expenses covered. 1 day per week in the office. The other 4 days you will be WFH and on the road meeting our customers and finding new ones.

About this opportunity

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Sales Executive to join OOCL or it could be the career stepping stone for an Inside Sales or Sales Support or Customer Service person within the shipping, transport & logistics industry. This Sales Executive will be responsible for identifying and pursuing potential customers or clients through various sales channels with a strategic vision. The person must also be able to develop and nurture strong relationships with existing and prospective clients to understand their needs and preferences.

The responsibilities will include

  • Be part of the best sales team in the Melbourne market to ensure OOCL remain the shipping line of choice for exporters and importers

  • Identify and pursue potential customers with business opportunities that match our ocean freight services.

  • Negotiate terms, pricing, and contracts with clients to secure deals while maintaining profitability for the company.

  • Promote OOCL’s End-to-End services that allow our customers to work with OOCL beyond port to port

  • Promote award winning e-Commerce and Customer Facing service platforms

  • Gain a deep knowledge of the industries our customers work in and the commodities they ship

  • Stay current on industry trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to identify new opportunities for improvement.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, both internally and externally.

  • Deliver compelling product and service presentations to showcase their value and address client queries.

  • Attending and contributing to weekly sales meetings, and monthly, quarterly and yearly reports as well as contributing to Forecasting & Budgeting

About you

Our ideal candidate will embody our shared values of innovation and creating value for customers, have exposure to the shipping industry as well as a passion and willingness to further develop their skill set under the guidance of the OOCL team.

  • Minimum 3 years of overall experience in the shipping transport & logistics industry, with at least 1 year of experience in Sales.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business/ Supply Chain or equivalent

  • Extensive Shipping knowledge

  • Advanced computer skills & digital proficiency, including proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications and ERP/CRM systems.

  • Good knowledge of using MS suites with hands on expertise in using MS excel (Formulas, Pivot table, etc)

  • Sales and Negotiation skills

  • Client Relationship Management

  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills as well as great presentation skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Have excellent time management and an ability to work well under pressure

  • Demonstrates passion and enthusiasm for our products and services

  • Strong customer service skills in the areas of handling disputes and treating customers with care

  • Must have full working rights in Australia.
