About the role:
As the Team Leader, Business Support, you will lead a team of Business Support Officers, and provide information on planning, starting, running or exiting a business and the provision of support programs for small and family businesses across metropolitan Adelaide and regional and rural South Australia. You will also support the Manager, Business Support to deliver key initiatives and programs outlined within the South Australian Small Business Strategy 2023-2030.
You will also:
- Provide information on planning, starting, running, growing or leaving a business and the provision of grants and support programs available for small and family businesses.
- Actively engage with industry stakeholders to seek insights to support delivery of programs and support services that builds industry and business capability.
- Establish and monitor systems to record stakeholder interactions, client business cases, supports and progress, and ensures that the information and services delivered by OSFB/DSD remain relevant.
- Develop and maintain professional and collaborative relationships, partnerships and networks with key stakeholders across DIIS, government departments, associations, and the South Australian small and family business community.
- Contribute to the identification, analysis and translation of research and market intelligence related to complex small and family businesses risks, impacts and trends, and deliver expert advice, discussion papers, Ministerial briefings, Cabinet documents and reports.
Key Competencies:
To succeed in this role, you will:
- Have extensive stakeholder engagement and management skills with a proven ability to work closely with businesses and business associations to increase the capability of South Australian businesses.
- Be able to identify and encourage areas for collaboration at planning stages and recognising where others within an organisation, across government and other stakeholders can contribute.
- Experience in managing the development, delivery and evaluation of programs, projects and services which increase the capability of South Australian businesses including engaging broadly across the government, industry, and community sectors.
- Experience in providing direction and leadership to team members.
- Knowledge of government policy and practices as they relate to economic development and the growth and sustainability of small and family businesses in South Australia.
- Knowledge of small and family Businesses operational requirements, the issues that impact growth, sustainability, and scalability and of broader issues that affect business growth in South Australia
- Knowledge of business programs and supports delivered by all levels of government and external parties.
You will also have:
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with a significant capacity to tailor insights to a diverse range of stakeholders across government, academia and industry
- Excellent attention to detail, creativity and original thinking to identify and analyse complex problems, formulate and implement innovative solutions
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively in a team and exercise independent judgement
- The empathy to understand the needs and requirements of a diverse range of stakeholders and successfully balance their competing demands and confidentiality
- Outside the box thinking, innovative and creative ideas to solve business problems and confidently engage with the unknown.
Remuneration:
Competitive salary will be offered as $108, 109 to $116,864 pa plus superannuation

- Essential: Nil
- Desirable: Formal qualifications in business management or business administration are highly regarded.
Special Conditions:
- This position will be offered as a full-time contract up to 2 years.
- A Satisfactory Department of Human Services Criminal History Check or National Police Check (NPC) will be required prior to employment.
