You will work within a multidisciplinary team and provide high quality, culturally appropriate, child protection services to children, families and carers.The focus will be on identifying and supporting potential kin and community members to become approved carers and supporting connection to young people in out of home care.
The team provides support and monitoring for approved carers both kin and foster, in addition to completing written assessments on potential carer applicants. The role will be required to establish productive partnerships in consultation with departmental staff, carers and other key stakeholders to meet the placement needs of children and young people.
The Senior Child Safety Support Officers Key Responsibilities Are
Effectively and positively engage with children, families, carers and service providers (including both government and non-government agencies) as required to support children and parents to meet their identified case plan goals. Provide individualised, high quality, and culturally appropriate supports to children and families subject to tertiary child protection intervention including, but not limited to; facilitation of positive family connection, referrals and advocacy for services. Work collaboratively with key stakeholders, children and parents to support the establishment and strengthening of effective safety and support networks, including connection to extended family and community. Participate effectively as a team member in a multidisciplinary team to deliver well-planned placement options and connections to vulnerable children and families. Actively contribute to a culture of continuous learning, training and professional development, to ensure practice knowledge and skills are contemporary and evidence based. Prepare and maintain quality case records and carer assessment documents in accordance with departmental case management requirements. Performs ad hoc duties consistent with the responsibilities of the role as directed by the line manager or their delegate.

Position is based in Mount Isa. Applicants must be willing to travel to remote communities.
