About the role
Sydney Airport’s Aviation team plays a vital role in the Airport’s commercial success—focusing on revenue growth, investment optimisation, and long-term strategic planning. As a Senior Financial Analyst within this team, you’ll contribute directly to shaping high-value business decisions and supporting initiatives that influence the future of aviation in Australia.
This is a 24-month max-term contract opportunity offering the chance to make a meaningful impact in a fast-paced, high-profile environment.
Reporting to the FP&A Manager, you’ll act as a trusted business partner to the Aviation division—delivering expert financial modelling, commercial analysis, and strategic insights. Your work will support decisions, evaluate complex business cases, and drive initiatives that enhance performance and profitability.
We’re looking for someone with gumption—a self-starter who’s not afraid to challenge the status quo, question assumptions, and push for smarter, more efficient ways of working. Your ability to combine technical excellence with curiosity and commercial acumen will be key to driving innovation and influencing change.
This role is ideal for a technically strong and commercially savvy analyst with a passion for solving complex problems, engaging with stakeholders, and delivering results that matter. If you're ready to bring fresh thinking and make your mark in a critical area of the business, we’d love to hear from you.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to
- Partner with senior leaders to create robust business cases for strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with commercial objectives and targets.
- Develop and maintain complex financial models that support revenue forecasting, EBITDA projections, and investment analysis.
- Drive the budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring accuracy, relevance, and alignment with organisational goals.
- Conduct detailed commercial analyses to identify and evaluate revenue-generating opportunities, assess risks, and recommend actionable strategies.
- Lead scenario planning and financial simulations to guide critical decision-making at the executive level.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate and optimise the financial performance of key business activities.
- Present financial insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders, influencing strategic decisions through clear and compelling communication.
- Foster a culture of high performance and continuous improvement within your team by mentoring and empowering team members to deliver impactful results.
About you
- Proven experience in financial planning and analysis, with a strong commercial focus and track record of driving revenue and profitability.
- Advanced financial modelling skills, with expertise in business casing and investment analysis.
- Strong business partnering experience, with the confidence to influence senior stakeholders and communicate complex insights clearly.
- A proactive, strategic mindset with a passion for identifying opportunities, challenging the status quo, and driving efficiency.
- Sharp analytical skills and the ability to turn data into meaningful, actionable recommendations.
- High proficiency in financial systems and tools, including advanced Excel skills.
- Experience working in high-performance environments, with the ability to lead, mentor, or contribute within a strong team culture.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Business, Accounting, Economics or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
