We Welcome Candidates Who

  • Hold a relevant undergraduate degree in chemistry or engineering (chemical/process, mechanical, or electrical), OR
  • Bring extensive hands-on experience in a production/operator role in a related manufacturing environment and can confidently operate equipment, handle materials, and identify process deviations.

What You’ll Do

Your mission , should you choose to accept it, will be to help Sicona achieve its long-term objectives to deliver high performance battery materials at mass market scale, without costing the earth.

  • Operate and monitor plant equipment with accuracy and consistency.
  • Complete checklists, maintenance schedules and operational duties with precision.
  • Reporting - write daily operational briefs
  • Identifying process faults using structured fault-finding techniques
  • Handling chemicals and waste safely like a pro, according to protocols.
  • Work alongside the team of engineers and R&D to transfer processes from lab to production.
  • Assist with technical documentation.
  • Contribute to the continuous safety and improvement systems.
  • Working with and coordinating contractors in the Plant
  • Manage chemical inventory and report to the Engineering team.
  • Assist with raw material and final product inventory sample collections
  • Live and breathe our safety-first culture—reporting hazards, near misses, and following WHS, HAZOPs, and risk assessments.

What You’ll Need To Succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Materials or Electrical), or Honours Degree in Chemistry (minimum Class II Division 1, Class I Honours preferred), Materials Science

OR

  • Extensive experience in a plant or production operator role in a comparable industry (e.g. pharmaceuticals, food, chemicals, minerals)
  • This is a hands-on, practical role—you must be comfortable working directly with equipment, processes, and materials on a daily basis.
  • High attention to detail and discipline in following procedures, recording data, and identifying deviations in process or material quality.
  • A “figure-it-out”, solution driven mindset: fast, flexible, and focused under pressure.
  • A team player attitude who can also take initiative independently.
  • Adaptable mindset, and ability to adjust on the fly. Priorities change. You roll with it.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills together with sound writing skills for reports and proposals.
  • A drive to learn, innovate, improve, and be part of something meaningful.
  • Strong communication skills and comfort with digital tools like MS Office

Even Better If You Have

  • Experience in process operations, materials handling or supply chain.
  • Familiarity with PFDs, and P&IDs, HAZOP analysis, troubleshooting procedure.
  • Knowledge of gas cylinders, chemical handling, and analytical equipment.
  • Exposure to chemical plant safety frameworks like HAZOP or risk assessments.
  • Knowledge of Working in Hazardous Areas Classifications
  • First Aid, Fire Safety training, Working at Heights, White Card, Forklift training
