About the Opportunity

We are looking for enthusiastic persons working in industry who have been exposed to Work Health and Safety or Industrial relations as part of your working time and have a range of life skills and experiences. It will provide an opportunity for the successful candidate to use their skills and aptitudes to positively influence and shape health and safety and industrial relations in South Australian workplaces.

The WHS Inspector is accountable for engaging with and connecting with workers and employers across South Australia, ensuring that workplaces are safe, fair and productive. The WHS Inspector will use their legislated powers in both a reactive and proactive setting to assist in ensuring that South Australia enjoys the highest standards of workplace and public safety and standards in all industries and sectors.

About the Business

SafeWork SA is a business unit within Attorney-General’s Department and is responsible for providing work, health and safety, public safety, and state-based industrial relations services across South Australia. As a regulator, our Investigators and Inspectors ensure work, health and safety, and public safety standards are met, and appropriate action is taken when breaches of laws are detected. We also help people better understand their work health and safety responsibilities.

Special Conditions for Employment

Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the AGD finds satisfactory. Successful applicants will be provided further information if an interview is requested. Forms are not to be lodged directly with SA Police (SAPOL) under any circumstances and any fees incurred by applicants in doing so will not be recoverable from the AGD.

Employment-related Screening Check required.

Some out of hours work may be required.

Some interstate and intrastate travel may be required.

Must hold a current Australian issued driver’s licence (equivalent to minimum class C).
