The Opportunity
The Contract Administrator is accountable to the Manager, Road Maintenance Contracts and responsible for providing comprehensive, responsive and solution focused administrative support to the Road Maintenance Contracts section.
The Contract Administrator is responsible for:
- Providing timely, concise and accurate advice to the Manager and team on administrative, financial and human resource management matters, policies and procedures as required.
- Coordinating and monitoring the section’s correspondence, and drafting responses to Ministerial, customer and stakeholder enquiries, often relating to sensitive and complex matters.
- The analysis of information and reports regarding administrative matters and preparing and compiling into relevant and coherent formats, suitable for the Manager’s consideration and action.
- The provision of administrative support for meetings and committees, staff travel, record management and other departmental processes as required.
About You
The ideal candidate will possess a strong knowledge of departmental human resource and administrative policies, financial delegations, and the strategic and political contexts influencing decision-making. You will need to have experience in preparing sensitive and complex reports and correspondence, along with well-developed written and verbal communication skills to effectively liaise with staff, stakeholders, and clients. Can you demonstrate a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, and conflict resolution, while contributing positively to negotiations.
Are you capable of working independently under limited supervision, managing high workloads, setting priorities, and meeting deadlines. The ability to act with urgency, take responsibility, and offer practical and innovative solutions is essential.

Special Conditions
A National Police Check (NPC) is required prior to employment in the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years.
Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.
Tenure of Vacancy
Temporary appointment up to 12 months, with the potential to become ongoing.
Remuneration
ASO4 - $76,561 to $80,256 pa + superannuation.
