About the RoleAs a Hospitality Trainee at IRT Five Islands Port Kembla, you will contribute to creating a comfortable and welcoming environment for our residents and their families. You will be responsible for providing excellent hospitality services, ensuring meals are served with care, maintaining cleanliness in dining areas, and supporting the overall well-being of our residents.
This role is full time working a combination of Morning and Afternoon shifts across Monday to Friday. You will be studying a Certificate II in Health Support Services which is paid for as part of your traineeship. The traineeship will be for a contracted term of 12 months.
Your work may include:
• Working with catering staff to assist with basic meal preparation
• Delivering and serving meals to our residents
• General laundry duties, including personal laundry
• Interacting with residents and creating meaningful customer relationships
• Adhering to strict food safety guidelines
• Helping with various domestic duties such as laundry and cleaning of general areas
- Experience delivering hospitality/food services (highly regarded)
- A big heart - an empathetic approach and strong customer service skills
- Experience in a similar role in a health or aged care setting (desirable)
- Must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Must NOT have completed or be currently studying a Certificate II in Health Support Services or similar or higher (example; Cert III).
- Have basic internet knowledge and ready access to the internet
- Able to use a computer and have basic digital literacy skills
- Basic reading and writing skills to answer assessment questions
- Own a computer/device to be able to complete course requirements

This hands on supportive program is designed to give you the practical skills and knowledge to provide support through food handling, meal preparation, and other essential hospitality tasks in aged care environments. Paid study and work with a certificate upon successful completion.
