The Opportunity

Maribyrnong Libraries aims to provide welcoming, progressive libraries, which inspire connection, learning and creativity. We are looking for two passionate and driven library programmers to help us deliver thoughtful and impactful programming.

Both roles (Program Lead - Adults and Program Lead Youth & Families) will be regularly rostered to two customer service shifts each week.

These roles will lead staff across five branches to create and deliver engaging programs. The Program Leads will build effective partnerships with stakeholders, administrating programming workflows, and contributing to strategic planning within the library service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the Program Lead - Youth and Family to support the Team Leader, Partnership & Engagement to coordinate the Libraries' programming framework.
  • Support the Team Leader, Partnership & Engagement to develop templates and standards for best practice program planning and delivery & evaluation.
  • Identify, broker and steward partnerships to support the library's engagement with the community.
  • Contribute to the development of the Library Service through delivery of projects aligned to the Library plan.
  • Provide welcoming, knowledgeable customer service, and information and reader advisory in branches, online and across all services.

About You

You are meticulous, organised and creative with proven relationship building skills. Applicants with strong digital skills and an interest in creative media and arts will be considered favourably.

To be considered for this role, you will have the following:

  • Proven ability to plan, implement and conduct a range of programs and activities in the context of community building, lifelong learning, literacy development and emerging library practice.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience developing partnerships with community organisations.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills with the ability to effectively extract & collate data from multiple sources.
  • Qualifications in librarianship or a relevant field such as education, event management, communications or digital media.
  • Current Working with Children Check.
