Monash Health Melbourne is offering fixed-term positions for the Transition to Specialty Practice Program within our renowned Intensive Care Units across all our 4 ICU locations.
This immersive professional development opportunity is designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge to excel in the dynamic world of intensive care nursing.
Our Journey
Monash Health is Victoria's largest public health service, committed to excellence in healthcare delivery. Our Intensive Care Units are at the forefront of critical care, catering to a diverse range of patients and medical specializations.
- Monash Medical Centre, Clayton - Adult ICU is a 27-bed tertiary referral centre specializing in Neurosurgery, Neurology, Obstetrics, General Medicine, and Surgery, with over 1900 admissions per year.
- Dandenong Hospital - is a 14-bed unit specializing in Colorectal, General Surgery, ENT, Orthopaedics, Plastics, Vascular, and General Medicine patients.
- Casey Hospital - is a 12-bed general Medical/Surgical unit specialising in Urology, Obstetrics and post-operative surgical care.
- Victorian Heart Hospital - Newly built state-of-the-art 16-bed service to deliver a modern model of excellence in care to complex cardiac patients supported by a team of critical care nurses and a multidisciplinary cardiac team. The Victorian Heart Hospital Intensive Cardiac Care Unit we provide cardiothoracic care and nurse-led EMCO service
A Day in the Life of a Registered Nurse in the TSP -ICU program
The program will comprise tutorials, clinical hurdles and assessments, along with providing nursing care to the patients in the Intensive Care Unit.
Your learning objectives will be guided and supported by our Clinical Educators dedicated within the respective intensive care units.
These are Part Time, Fixed Term roles (to start August 2025) , working across supported clinical shifts within the unit, in preparation for you to take on further studies within Critical Care studies.
At the completion of the TSP program, you will gain knowledge and confidence in a range of skills and competencies, with the ability to:
- Contributing to a safe and effective patient care environment
- Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating interventions
- Providing competent care to patients requiring ventilatory and oxygenation support
- Identifying critical illness consequences
What you bring
We are seeking motivated Registered Nurses with acute nursing experience, who are eager to make a difference in the lives of critically ill patients.
Your application must include a resume, a cover letter clearly highlighting your site preference (Casey, Dandenong Hospital, Monash Medical Centre or Victorian Heart Hospital) and reasoning for preference
- A commitment to patient-centred care and advocacy
- Recent or Current acute nursing experience
- Strong time management and communication skills
- Australian working rights
- Current AHPRA registration
- Employee-level Working with Children Check card
