The NSW Institute of Sport [NSWIS] is a high performance sporting organisation that supports Australian athletes to become world’s best. We reach all regions of NSW with an Olympic and Paralympic training facility based at Sydney Olympic Park and high performance hubs across NSW that provide world class daily training environments for our athletes and coaches. Our experts work in collaboration with partners within the national sporting system to create and deliver high performance support services and environments to prepare athletes and coaches for international competition.
The NSWIS Snowboard Cross program is part of the Australian High-Performance Program delivered in partnership with Snow Australia (SA) and the Olympic Winter Institute of Australia (OWIA) and has a training base in Jindabyne.
About the role
The NSWIS Snowboard Cross Coach is responsible for the provision of high performance coaching services to targeted NSWIS scholarship and talented athletes with the goal of optimising the performances of these athletes nationally and internationally at benchmark events and preparing them for selection into Australian teams.
This is a full time position, attracting an annual salary range starting at $86,029 plus superannuation. The contract period for this role is up to 30 June 2026 in line with the Winter Olympic cycle.
This is an identified position requiring a Working with Children Check.

About you
You will have:
- Minimum of 5 years of snowboard cross coaching and technical delivery at a national and international level with demonstrated experience of successful campaign delivery
- Proven success in devising and executing long-term performance planning to guide the development of young talented and international athletes
- A deep technical understanding of competitive snowboard cross
- Understanding how to effectively leverage and maximize support services for national/international success in a ‘restricted resource environment’
- A strong knowledge and understanding of the complexities and demand of high performance snowboard cross in relation to competition environments and travel commitments
- Be a role model for targeted coaches by exposing them to a culture of excellence, an appropriate intensity of training, and expectations linked to achievement of performance targets and outcomes.
- Awareness of contemporary issues relating to athletes in high performance sport (mental health, wellbeing, social issues)
Essential Requirements:
- Relevant coaching accreditation
- Relevant tertiary qualifications (or equivalent experience)
- First Aid and CPR certificate
- Current driver’s license
- Working with Children WWC
- Sport Integrity Australia - Anti-Doping Fundamentals and annual update 2025
