The AWS Environment Team is looking for a talented and self-motivated Environmental Management System (EMS) Regional Lead to support APAC and Middle-East/Africa (APMEA). The Worldwide Sustainability (WWS) organization capitalizes on Amazon’s scale, speed, ability to build, invent, and simplify a resilient and sustainable company. We manage our social and environmental impacts globally, and drive solutions that enable our customers, businesses, and the world to become more sustainable.
The Environmental team has responsibility for building and implementing AWS's global environmental programs aligned to ISO 14001 EMS. This role requires a skilled professional to manage complex environmental initiatives across organizational and country boundaries.
The ideal candidate must have a demonstrated ability to lead regional projects, influence stakeholders, and work independently while seeking guidance when needed.
You will work closely with a dedicated team of Regional Environmental Engineers (REEs) based at data center locations across APMEA, and report to the APMEA Regional Environmental Manager, based in Sydney.
This roles does require some travel and is based in AWS corporate office in Sydney.
As the Regional EMS Manager for APMEA you will:
- Hold responsibility for developing and implementing programs to minimize environmental impacts, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote positive environmental culture within the region.
- Implement programs aligned with ISO 14001
- Collaborate with the Environment Team, Operations Leaders, Global EMS Lead and other stakeholders to drive process improvements.
Key job responsibilities
- Ensure the ISO 14001 aligned EMS evolves to meet changing organizational needs, stakeholder expectations, and environmental challenges.
- Collaborate with wider environmental team and operations leaders to implement the EMS and update associated polices
- Develop and implement strategic programs to address environmental risks and opportunities.
- Lead environmental training and awareness programs
- Conduct regular internal audits of the EMS and regulatory compliance and analyze data to identify trends, gaps, and areas for improvement.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in environmental engineering, geology, geography, biology, chemistry or related field of study
- Experience implementing ISO 14001 accredited environmental management systems.
- Experience with regional/global environmental programs.
- EMS audit experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience developing and maintaining multisite and/or multi-country EMS.
- Formal EMS Audit Qualifications or Certification.
