About the role:
Supported by our National Contaminated Land and Environment group, this is an exciting and challenging opportunity where you will play a critical role in the success of the Queensland Environmental business.
As a Undergraduate/Graduate Environmental Scientist specialising in contaminated land, you will play a pivotal role in investigating, assessing, and remediating sites impacted by various types of contamination. We are looking for an energetic, team player who can support our national group of specialised scientists and engineers, based out of our Brisbane City office.
Penultimate or Final year students are highly encouraged to apply! We offer casual/part-time work leading up to graduation.
Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Conducting Preliminary Site Investigations (PSIs), Detailed Site Investigations (DSIs), Due Diligence Assessments, and Environmental Management Plans.
- Field supervision of subcontractors such as underground service locators and environmental drillers (at sites located both within QLD but also interstate).
- Collection of soil, groundwater, surface water, and soil vapour samples.
- Logging of soil types and profiles in accordance with Australian Standards.
- Field data collection using tablet devices.
- Preparation of analytical data tables and site figures.
- Preparing technical reports and documentation.
- Assisting in the design and implementation of remediation strategies.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and standards
Other Duties:
- Support with the preparation of proposals and quotes.
- Assist in the procurement of subcontractor services and maintain all Fyfe equipment and technology required to complete field and monitoring work.
Requirements:
- Tertiary degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or Environmental Management fields (Penultimate/Final year students are welcome to apply).
- Strong interest in environmental chemistry, soil, groundwater, and contamination assessment.
- Ability to work on project sites in accordance with all safety, quality and environmental procedures.
- Ability to work closely with other team members both locally and nationally.
- Strong communication skills and ability to present and summarise data.
- A valid driver's license is essential.
