About This Opportunity

The Senior Technical Business Analyst plays a key role in shaping data-driven solutions across the University by leading the identification, definition, and translation of complex business requirements into actionable system designs. Operating at a senior level, this role requires a confident and autonomous professional who can manage broad-scope projects and engage effectively with senior stakeholders. Collaborating closely with internal and external partners—including business stakeholders, solution architects, project managers, and technical teams—the Senior Technical Business Analyst ensures the successful delivery and ongoing support of data-centric applications. This opportunity offers the chance to influence strategic decision-making, improve business efficiency, and lead initiatives that drive innovation in data processes and technology solutions University-wide.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and contribute to comprehensive data migration efforts, including defining mapping logic, coordinating data cleansing, transformation, validation, testing and resolution of anomalies, ensuring the final solution meets quality and compliance expectations.

  • Translate business and technical requirements into detailed technical outputs, including user stories, data models, integration specifications, data mapping/transformation rules, and system design documentation.

  • Ensure data management practices are applied throughout the project lifecycle by supporting data quality initiatives, establishing data validation checkpoints, and contributing to sustainable data governance processes.

  • Coordinate and support all phases of testing with a focus on data and integration accuracy, including system testing, data migration validation, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

  • Plan and facilitate effective stakeholder workshops, interviews, and requirements-gathering sessions to elicit business needs, define scope, and support prioritisation of deliverables. Collaborate closely with business and technical teams.

  • Proactively present and contribute to project planning, solution options and recommendations in a way that enables clear understanding by business users and contributes to informed, strategic decision-making.

  • Ensure all activities align with UQ’s standards for data governance, privacy, security, and solution architecture, and contribute to building sustainable, scalable data solutions for long-term use.
