About the Role

As a result of continuous company growth, GPA is looking for an enthusiastic Senior Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to join our Perth team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a high performing and growing team to develop your skills to the next level.

To be successful in this position you will have completed a Bachelor level degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or similar. You must have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience. You must also have a legal entitlement to work in Australia and be able to obtain necessary security clearances if required.

This role would suit a self-driven and motivated I&C Engineer with mining, oil & gas or other complex industrial automation project experience, such as in the manufacturing industry. Renowned for delivering quality engineering work for its clients across Australia, you will be part of a privately-owned company that takes prides in its family culture and long-term retention rates.

Key Duties:

• Development and modification of low voltage design drawings for industrial power and control systems
• Selection / specification of industrial instrumentation
• Selection / sizing / specification of low voltage electrical equipment
• Developing I&C schedules (e.g. cable, instrument, IO)
• Design / modify panel layout, schematic wiring and termination diagrams for control systems.
• Assisting with and reviewing multidisciplinary deliverables
• Provide mentorship to junior engineers.
• Proposal preparation and engineering cost estimates
• Provide input to project tenders.
• Developing plans and scopes of work for the installation of Instrument/Control systems
• Successfully deliver on small to large, complex, multidisciplinary, high-risk projects.
• Collaboratively resolve anomalies, design issues, technical challenges.
• Developing changeover plans for brownfield control system upgrades.
• PLC/RTU Programming
• SCADA Programming
• Control System troubleshooting
• Control system FAT, SAT & Commissioning.
• Working collaboratively with a multidiscipline team.
• Contribute to the technical success of project outcomes within your engineering discipline(s).

You’ll be a critical thinker with great attention to detail, outstanding problem-solving skills with a desire to mentor junior engineers.

To be successful in this position you will have an engineering degree recognised by Engineers Australia. We are seeking for candidates that are self-starter, driven and with the following relevant experience:

• Significant experience in instrumentation and controls engineering
• Solid understanding of key Australian standards including AS3000
• Control system design and specification, including industrial networks, automation equipment, instrumentation and control devices.
• Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills
• Satisfactorily completed a Bachelor of Engineering and eligible to register as a Professional Engineer in Australia.
• Project Management qualification is highly desirable.

A requirement for this role is to complete a satisfactory pre-employment medical and Australian police clearance.
