The Ethical Standards Group is responsible for responding to and mitigating suspected or alleged corrupt conduct and serious misconduct with a goal to contributing to the safety and success of young persons involved with the youth justice system.

The Senior Advisor, Assessments is responsible for conducting high level assessments and preliminary enquiries in relation to suspected or alleged corrupt conduct or serious misconduct. The Senior Advisor, Assessments provides advice and support to employees and senior executives in relation to sensitive conduct matters, Public Interest Disclosures, and other integrity-related functions.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Advisor, Assessments, you will specifically:

  • Conduct high level, complex assessments and preliminary enquiries, documenting decision-making as required under the Crime and Corruption Act 2001, the Public Interest Disclosure Act 2010 as well as conduct that falls within the Public Sector Commission's (PSC) Conduct and Performance Excellence (CaPE) framework.
  • Identify and prepare referrals to other external law enforcement agencies and other integrity bodies, including the Crime and Corruption Commission, the Queensland Police Service, and the Office of the Public Guardian.
  • Identify and analyse human rights issues under the Human Rights Act 2019.
  • Provide advice, support and guidance to internal stakeholders on corruption prevention strategies and incidents involving corrupt conduct and conduct that falls within the PSC CaPE framework.
  • Actively manage Ethical Standards Group records and cases using the case management system and other relevant systems.
  • Interpret, apply and effectively implement legislation and other regulatory provisions, particularly those relevant to the assessment of integrity and conduct complaints.
  • Receive, assess and record public interest disclosures under the Public Interest Disclosure Act 2010 to meet legislative requirements, standards and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Follow defined service quality standards, occupation health and safety policies and procedures relating to work being undertaken to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
  • Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
