Ceduna Community Health Services is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Community Support Worker to join our team under the innovative Consumer Directed Care model. This model empowers consumers to have greater control over their care by allowing them to make choices about the services they receive and who delivers them.
About the Role:
As a Community Support Worker with Ceduna Community Health Services, you will play a vital role in supporting aged, frail, and disabled individuals who wish to remain in their own homes or reside in a Residential Aged Care facility. Your responsibilities will include providing essential services such as personal care, cleaning, meal preparation, transport, and social support.
In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to:
- Personal Care: Assist with activities such as showering, bathing, toileting, personal hygiene, and grooming.
- Household Support: Perform tasks like vacuuming, dusting, polishing, washing floors, cooking basic meals, and minor gardening.
- Social Support: Provide transport, shopping assistance, and support with mobility or therapy services.
- Consumer Engagement: Work collaboratively with consumers, their families, and other health professionals to deliver quality care and support consumer independence.
What We're Looking For:
- Qualifications: Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Disability, or Home and Community).
- Experience: Previous experience in direct care services, particularly with aged, frail, or disabled individuals.
- Skills: Ability to follow detailed directions, work well in a team, and communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Attributes: Patience, flexibility, resilience, and a solution-focused approach. Must be dependable, reliable, and respectful toward clients, carers, family members, and colleagues.
- Knowledge: Understanding of the Consumer Directed Care model, principles of reablement, Occupational Health and Safety, and Risk Management principles.
- Commitment: A strong dedication to customer service and consumer-directed care principles, with a willingness to undertake further training and development.
