Role : Corporate Governance Advisor (Compliance)
Daily Rate : $720 - $820 + super
Contract : 6 months - August 2025
Hybrid : Tuesdays and Wednesdays and every second Friday in the office
Location : Sydney CBD
The primary purpose of the role is to be the custodian of Government department’s GOV360 Obligations Management system.
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Corporate Governance Advisor | Compliance to manage and oversee the GOV360 Obligations Management system for compliance governance and reporting. As part of the Corporate Governance team, you will ensure department remains compliant with its obligations, including laws, government directives, industry standards, contracts, and internal policies. Your work will focus on maintaining and improving the governance framework, driving compliance culture, and ensuring accurate reporting across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:
• Serve as the custodian of the department’s GOV360 Obligations Management system, overseeing the identification, confirmation, and registration of all compliance obligations.
• Provide centralised administration support for tracking audit and risk actions and managing extension requests within the Governance, Risk, and Compliance system.
• Collaborate with various teams to monitor and report on compliance performance, providing visibility into well-functioning areas and identifying those requiring attention.
• Support the Corporate Governance function by providing secretariat services, delegation support, policy advice, and business operational support.
• Analyse and evaluate policies and procedures to support compliance objectives and recommend improvements to enhance business operations where necessary.
• Build strong relationships with management and staff to foster a compliance culture and influence continuous improvement efforts.
• Assist in developing periodic compliance reports and updates for internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies, ensuring the accurate documentation of compliance performance.
• Stay updated with new compliance technologies and software tools (such as GOV360 and Protecht) to enhance tracking, auditing, and reporting processes.
Key Skills & Experience:
• Compliance Expertise: In-depth experience and knowledge of compliance regulations, policies, and governance standards within infrastructure or Government department’s -related sectors.
• Attention to Detail: Proven ability to manage complex compliance frameworks and data while ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Strong Communication Skills: Ability to engage and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, building strong relationships and fostering a culture of compliance.
• Multitasking & Prioritisation: Ability to juggle multiple tasks and prioritise responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with Governance Systems: Comfortable working with compliance software such as GOV360 or Protecht. Experience in utilising these systems for managing obligations, audits, and risk actions is highly desirable.
• Compliance Strategy Development: Ability to assess and evaluate business policies and procedures to identify and recommend changes that align with compliance goals.
• Team Player: While the role involves significant independent work, the ability to collaborate effectively within a team is essential.
Key Challenges:
  • Keeping abreast of changes in the regulatory environment and capturing such changes in the Corporate Governance Framework.
  • Facilitating the consistent application of the Corporate Governance Framework and compliance across the entities.
  • Supporting the function’s drive to increase awareness and commitment across the organisation to achieve good governance and ethical conduct.
Desirable Qualifications, Experience and Skills:

  • Experience in Corporate Governance, Legal, Policy, or Compliance roles.
  • Project management experience with a proactive attitude and a willingness to apply transferable skills to a governance environment.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Corporate Governance, Law, or a related field, or equivalent experience in a company secretarial/corporate governance function.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Develop relationships with management and staff to influence and foster a compliance culture.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Works independently, but also as a team player.
  • Strong multitasking skills and ability to prioritise workload.
