Description:
Reporting to the Senior Advisor - Policy & Legislation, the Policy, Legislation and Compliance Officer will be expected to work within the legislation, policy and compliance portfolios in the Policy, Data and Compliance team which is responsible for:- Changes to the Student Identifiers Act and related policies
- Privacy and data breach management
- Compliance & enforcement
- Data analysis and reporting to inform business priorities
- Business assurance activities to identify risk and opportunities for improvement
The key duties of the position include
Responsibilities of the Policy, Legislation and Compliance Officer may include:
- Contribute to policy analysis and development in relation to the USI and changes to related legislation and regulation
- Lead and monitor implementation of the Registrar's Privacy and Risk Management Plans and provide guidance and support to protect the privacy of USI account holders and appropriate access arrangements
- Investigate alleged data breaches, and where required, refer matters to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner for further investigation
- Review external requests and make recommendations to disclose USI information (including personal information) about individuals to an approved agency to assist with their investigation into unlawful activities as well as law enforcement and regulatory purposes.
- Commit to meeting collective deliverables, and where required, work across section functions, including providing support for development of briefs, reports and committee papers, communication activities and stakeholder engagement
- Provide assistance and support to the contact centre through the creation and maintenance of policy and procedural documents, as well as the facilitation of training
- Provide advice to relevant stakeholders on moderately complex policy matters
- Undertake business assurance activities and recommend business improvements
- Support the team and take direction to action ad-hoc tasks in line with business priorities.
