Your role within Policy, Performance and First Nations will support the department to improve performance and achieve better outcomes for the State through the setting up and delivery of the departments and Government's long-term strategic reform agenda and objectives. The work you will do helps someone every day, and that means the world to us.Strategic Policy and Intergovernmental Relations are responsible for leadership and coordination of strategic policy and reform directions for housing and homelessness assistance. We are committed to the successful delivery of the Homes for Queenslanders plan, including assisting Queenslanders who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
What You Will Be Doing
- Provide professional, authoritative and timely strategic policy and legislative advice on housing and homelessness policy issues and to inform policy, program and project development on strategic policy issues that intersect with housing and homelessness outcomes and policy objectives.
- Undertake rigorous and complex policy research and analysis to develop options and provide advice on housing and homelessness policy and reform, including to contribute strategic advice and policy development on state and national policy priorities and legislative reform.
- Plan and lead collaboration and engagement with stakeholders and partners to inform advice about delivery of Queensland Government housing and homelessness policy commitments and reform agendas, including through legislative reform and intergovernmental arrangements and by supporting representation on bodies, committees, working groups and negotiations to ensure department and state-specific issues and interests are addressed.
- Prepare high-quality, professional and evidence-based written materials and communications about strategic housing and homelessness policy, legislation and reform, including briefs, cabinet submissions, legislative development and support materials, consultation papers, regulatory impact statements, presentations and speeches.
- Manage and develop staff to deliver a work program and ensuring staff have the necessary skills, knowledge and expertise to meet their performance expectations and professional development goals.
- Support and help maintain a workplace safety culture by ensuring that all policies and practices concerning Workplace Health and Safety are applied and a part of day-to-day operations.
- You will lead and manage a team contributing to deliver complex strategic policy, legislative and reform advice to support the Queensland Government.
