Position Information

Hawkesbury High School is located on traditional Dharug land approximately 70 km North West of the Sydney CBD, on the outer edge of the Sydney Basin. The school is surrounded by Cumberland Plain Forest in a semi-rural setting. The current enrolment is 397 students including 12% Aboriginal students. The school has excellent facilities with up-to-date technology in all faculties, an Agricultural Farm, Creative and Performing Arts space, multi-purpose hall and Trade Training Facilities for teaching Hospitality and Metals and Engineering. The school provides a wide variety of co-curricular and extra-curricular opportunities available to students. There is currently one support class and in 2026 two more classes will be introduced. The school's focus is on student growth in reading, writing and numeracy and top 3 bands in the HSC. An additional focus is on teacher professional learning and practice, including evidence-based practices that have a proven link to student growth and achievement.The school values its connection to Aboriginal cultures and history and the local community and it supports all students to become successful learners, confident and creative individuals and active and informed citizens. Selection Criteria
In addition to the general selection criteria; 1. An inspirational and collaborative educational leader with a proven ability to build staff and executive capacity to drive inclusivity and improvement through evidence informed strategies and innovation, to deliver sustained student growth and achievement.
2. Demonstrated highly visible and approachable leader who can lead continued improvement regardless of adversities and engage the voices of all stakeholders to ensure the best possible outcomes for students, staff and community.
3. Demonstrated high level impact improving student well being, staff well being and morale and positive learning culture through strategic leadership.
4. Capacity to build upon existing successful frameworks and actively promote respectful relationships with all stakeholders.
General Selection Criteria
1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education 2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs 3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community 4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning 5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning 6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school’s RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Principal Level P3 for 2025.
Applicants are to include details of their WWCC clearance number as part of this application.
