The Opportunity
The Senior Transport Assessment Officer plays a pivotal role in managing the interface between planning matters and the transport network, ensuring alignment with legislative and strategic objectives. The position is responsible for timely assessments of Code Amendments and development referrals under the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act, negotiating infrastructure requirements for current and future growth, and providing expert advice on urban growth, transport corridor management, and legislative compliance. The role also involves leading critical projects, consulting with diverse stakeholders, and producing high-quality, strategic documentation for decision-makers.

About You
You are an experienced professional with a strong background in planning or engineering, equipped with the skills, knowledge, and experience to deliver transport and planning solutions to align with departmental priorities and objectives.

Your strengths include:

  • Extensive background in transport engineering or land use planning, including management of complex development applications and planning matters.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, enabling you to influence stakeholders and provide clear, well-considered advice.
  • Proven ability to manage programs and projects efficiently, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
  • Highly organised, with experience meeting time-critical deadlines while managing competing demands.

Qualifications/Experience
A degree in Engineering providing eligibility for membership as a Professional Engineer of the Institute of Engineers, Australia or a Degree in Planning providing eligibility for membership of the Planning Institute of Australia is required.

Special Conditions
The successful candidate will be required to provide a National Police Check (NPC) prior to employment with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years.

Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.

Remuneration
PO3 - $101,285 to $107,078 pa + superannuation.
