Rare opportunity for an experienced Development Manager to join an innovative and active market leader with extensive exposure across all asset classes.

We are an extremely diverse business who procure, develop and maintain a wide range of commercial properties with an extensive commercial property portfolio currently under management. We are looking into expanding our portfolio and that has created an opportunity for an experienced Development Manager to join our team.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic plans for mixed use medium-to-large scale developments aligned with overall business objectives.

• Provide visionary leadership in setting goals for the creation and enhancement of expansive mixed use, medium-to-large projects.

• Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of medium-to-large scale projects, ensuring timely delivery, budget adherence, and high-quality standards.

• Formulation and ongoing upkeep of project timelines and communication plans.

• Represent the organization adeptly in negotiations with external entities.

• Coordinate with diverse teams, including architects, engineers, contractors, and legal experts, to achieve seamless project execution.

• Manage budgets and financial forecasts, incorporating a deep understanding of financial complexities.

• Conduct in-depth financial analyses and feasibility studies for potential projects if and as required.

• Evaluate the feasibility of potential sites, considering zoning regulations, environmental factors, and market demand if and as required.

• Contractor selection and negotiation of contracts to optimize financial outcomes.

• Preparation of consultant agreements including (but not limited to) project scope and client brief documents.

• Conduct comprehensive market research to identify trends, opportunities and risks specific to the retail and shopping centre industry.

• Analyse data to make informed decisions regarding property acquisitions and development strategies.

• Stay abreast of industry trends, regulations and market conditions.

• Identify and assess risks associated with mixed use, medium-to-large developments, implementing effective mitigation strategies.

• Ensure strict compliance with industry regulations and legal requirements.

• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including investors, retailers, local authorities, and community representatives.

• Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, keeping them abreast of project progress.

• Provide inspiring leadership and mentorship to a team of professionals specialized in medium-to-large developments.

• Foster a collaborative, high-performance work environment and identify opportunities for team growth and development.

• Integrate sustainable practices into the planning and execution of medium-to-large projects.

• Ensure stringent compliance with environmental standards, building codes, and other relevant regulations.

• Prepare and deliver comprehensive reports to Joint Venture partners/Investors, offering insights into project status, financial performance, and key metrics.

• Maintain meticulous project documentation.

• Processing of monthly progress claims from consultants and contractors if and as required.

• Engage proactively with local communities to address concerns, build positive relationships, and enhance the organization's standing.

• Managing tenant relationships and assisting to ensure all landlord works have been completed by the engaged contractor as per requirements of individual tenant leases.

• Assisting properties with the compilation of leasing proposals (HOA/AFL/L).

• Coordination of handovers with end users, to ensure lease obligations are met.

• Liaise with Design, Council, and Planning Consultants when required to achieve positive and high-quality outcomes.

The Candidate

• Minimum 5 years’ experience working on mixed use medium-to-large scale developments.

• Diploma or degree in Building Construction, Engineering, Project Management, Property and/or Valuations.

• Driver’s License.

• Sound knowledge of design theories, principles and practices.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to liaise with multiple stakeholders.

• High end user IT skills and experience in Microsoft Office software and other relevant software packages.

• Ability to work autonomously, demonstrating a strong work ethic with exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills.

• Ability to work under pressure and balance priorities to achieve positive outcomes.

• High level of accuracy, attention to detail and numeracy skills.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and act with professionalism at all times.

• Punctual and reliable.

• Ability to read and interpret budgets.

• Sound Knowledge of building terminology and construction process.

• Ability to recognize potential issues and prepare appropriate actions.

• Analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to recognize and resolve general lease matters during negotiations.

• Ability to build relationships and work with a wide range of people.

• Work effectively and efficiently as part of a team.

• Possesses motivation to achieve positive results for the company and respects the commercial interests of the company.

• Understanding Town planning.

• Exceptional skills in negotiating and closing deals and managing relevant legal documentation.

• Knowledgeable in property acquisitions, with a developed skill in structuring deals.
